Will and Document Storage

The Importance of Will and Document Storage

Securely storing your important legal documents is a crucial aspect of effective estate planning. Safe storage not only ensures the preservation of your valuable records but also guarantees quick and hassle-free access when needed. Let’s delve into the significance of document storage and what to consider.

Why Document Storage Matters

Preservation of Originals: Vital legal documents, such as Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney, must be preserved in their original form to maintain their legal validity. Safe storage prevents damage, loss, or unauthorised alterations.

Fire and Water Resistance: Choosing fire and water-resistant storage ensures that your documents are shielded from unexpected disasters. Protecting your papers from the elements is a safeguard for your legacy.

Ease of Access: Quick and convenient access to your documents is essential, especially during critical situations when they are needed most. Well-organised storage solutions streamline the retrieval process.

Peace of Mind: Knowing that your documents are securely stored provides peace of mind, reducing anxiety for both you and your loved ones.

Benefits of Storing your Will with Us

At Maple Wills, we understand that the safe storage of your legal documents is paramount. For a small annual fee, we will store your Will and other legal documents for you, ensuring they are safe and readily accessible.

  • When stored with us, your documents are insured against loss and damage, giving you peace of mind.
  • Documents are stored in waterproof wallets. However, should anything happen to them, your documents will be recreated for you, at no cost.
  • You can access your documents at any time, at no cost, by arrangement with us.
  • When the time comes that your Executors need to access your Will, they will be able to do so without difficulty. Additionally, we will be able to assist the executers / trustees with advice.

We contact our clients twice a year, typically in January and July, reminding them of the importance and reasons to review not only their Will, but the whole of the estate. This is one way we support our clients with tax liability inheritance tax thresholds.

Don’t leave the security of your legacy to chance. Let’s work together to safeguard your important legal documents for the future. Your peace of mind and the protection of your family’s future are our top priorities.
